In memory of a proud Newfoundlander, Bill's family and friends will gather on February 19 to 'screech' him on to new shores. He enjoyed visiting his beloved niece Barbara Martin, her husband Harold and son Alan in Ottawa over many Jigg's dinners and games of bridge. Bill had a special, loving bond in particular with his niece Marie Chadwick and nephew Cliff Freeman, who shared many adventures with their Uncle Bill and provided great comfort to him in his final days. The loving father of Patty and Bruce, grandfather of Elisabeth, Ian, Jessica and Mark and father- in-law of Stuart and Sharon will remain in their hearts always. Most of all, Bill loved his family and friends, and they loved him right back. When not enjoying a summer's day on his back deck, Bill loved to hike or bike along his beloved waterfront pathways. He cherished his garden and turned his little Ajax backyard into an oasis of raspberries. Bill loved nothing more than a good 'cuppa' in his kitchen followed by a round or two of cards. He lived in the moment and was always ready for anything, from learning how to use a computer at an advanced age to going up in a hot air balloon on his 80th birthday. Bill was gentle and easy-going, private and independent, forgiving yet stubborn, wickedly funny and deeply sweet.
